Making poo in science

Today Year 4 have explored how the digestive system works with a fun practical experiment. We first had to mush up the banana, biscuits, juice and water in a clear plastic bag; this acted as the stomach. We then transferred the mixture into a pair of tights and squeezed; this represented the muscles in the small intestine contracting to move the food down the body. Once the excess moisture had been removed (with a tissue) we cut a small hole to release it from the anus as faeces. Messy but educational (and fun)!
