Crime and Punishment in the Anglo-Saxon period

In 6W we explored crime and punishment in the Anglo-Saxon and Viking period. We learnt about oath keepers and the use of trial by ordeal as well as Weirgild as payment for victims. We then played a game to see what our ‘crime’ was and our ‘punishment’ for that crime – we were surprised by some of the punishments, such as: having our hand chopped off, becoming a slave, or even death!
