Evolution Workshop Year 6

Today we took part in a Science online workshop with the Natural History Museum where we learnt to:

  • To explain what evolution is: we looked at how fossil evidence from the past can show changes in life on Earth over millions of years.
  • To learn about why evolution happens: we used the example of how horses have evolved and discussed differences between fossils.
  • To explore how evolution happens: we learnt about natural selection and looked at a real example of evolution happening now on the island to a population of lizards.

This was a fantastic experience, following our visit to the Natural History Museum yesterday, and it was a wonderful opportunity for the children to apply their knowledge from their learning this half term.
