Today in art, we studied the life and work of Joseph Turner. We studied how he captured the light in his paintings and learnt that he was named the ‘Painter of Light’ due to this ability. We then looked at his art which he produced in Cassiobury Park and worked on recreating this, capturing the light too. Before we began, we practised sketching lightly the outline of a tree before combining watercolour to create shade and light in our pictures. We then used these skills in our pictures – we certainly think we are painters of light! We have been very creatively fit for life!
